Robert “Bob” H. Diehl, age 72, of Gurnee, IL, passed away surrounded by loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 6th at the American Legion, 749 Milwaukee Ave, Gurnee, IL from 1pm to 4pm, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and share stories of his life.

Born on November 6, 1950, at St. Theresa Hospital in Waukegan, IL, Bob was a proud lifelong resident of Gurnee. He graduated from Warren Township High School and went on to serve his country as a CTM in the U.S. Navy. Stationed on the submarine U.S.S. Barb, Bob dedicated years of his life to protecting and serving his nation. After completing his military service, Bob held various jobs, most notably as a Signalman with Chicago Northwestern Railroad, which later became Union Pacific Railroad.
In his retirement, Bob found joy in helping others obtain their HAM radio licenses, and eventually volunteered with MARS, providing essential communication during times of national distress. A true patriot and dedicated community member, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Carolyn Diehl; son, Michael Diehl; sisters, Patty Taulu, Kathy Harju, Mary Anderson, Beth Roof and husband Ken, Joann Vroman and husband Daryl; and brothers, Jim Diehl, and Jeff Diehl, along with Jeff’s wife, Deb. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Caroline Diehl; sisters, Carol and Barbara Diehl; Brother, Bill Diehl and son, Robert Diehl.
