On July 1st after bravely battling cancer for 7 years Monica peacefully passed away at Journeycare in Barrington, IL. Throughout her life she touched so many lives. She was a loving wife and amazing mom and grandma.

Monica became a teacher at Hawthorn in 1975. She touched the lives of many children. Monica was gentle yet strong in her convictions. Her smile reached out to all her students. The Hawthorn community is blessed to have known “Mrs. Dawson”. Her students will always smile at the mention of her name.

Toward the end of her life everyday tasks became more difficult. However with the help of her loving husband Dave, she persevered. She still kept her passion for life and family until her last breath.

Monica was a beautiful soul and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her Husband; Dave, Son; Wes (Ashley), and Granddaughter Addison. Sisters Harla and Sharon, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
