Kenneth “Ken” Johnson, 74, of Lindenhurst, passed away Sunday, June 27th, 2021 after a long illness. He was born in Elgin, Illinois on October 6th, 1946. He was an active member of the Lindenhurst community, participating in the Jaycees for many years and local politics. He was influential in getting the Downs Development Council introduced to the community. He especially derived a lot of joy from his membership in St. Marks Lutheran Church as a choir and council member. He also shared his sense of humor with his many friends and family.

Ken was a longtime Abbott employee, and worked for several years at Amersham International before starting his own printing business, BCT, in Waukegan before retirement.

Ken graduated from Waukegan High School in 1964 and later received a degree from Lake Forest School of Management.

Ken was a dedicated Green Bay Packer fan and one of the highlights of his life was being able to attend a Packer Super Bowl. He was also a country music buff, attending Country Thunder for several years.

Ken will be sorely missed by his wife of 53 years, Mary (Bunda) Johnson, sons Scott (Alison) Johnson of Lindenhurst, Illinois, Steve (Valerie) Johnson of Elgin, Illinois. He was blessed with grandchildren Shane, Lucas, Naomi, Annika, and Kathryn. He is also survived by brother Dan (Elaine) Johnson of Newport News, Virginia, sister Ruth (Donald) Collins of Beach Park, Illinois, many nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.

Parents Kenneth Johnson and Veronica Couture, sister Tina Campbell, grandparents Henry and Marie Haase and Harold and Ruth Johnson preceded him in death.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday August 21st at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 1822 E. Grand Avenue in Lindenhurst. Visitation will be held at 10am prior to an 11am memorial service followed by a luncheon at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or Journey Care Hospice of Barrington, Illinois. Special thanks to Northwestern McHenry Hospital and Ignite Medical Resort for his care.
