Katarzyna (Kasia) M. Nickel 49, of Richmond passed away peacefully in the arms of her fiancée Paul the morning of June 28, 2020. She was born in Warsaw and attended middle school in Germany. Her family was sponsored by their friend Phyllis to the United States. They settled in Philadelphia, PA where she graduated High School. She moved to New York and stayed long enough not to know to stay there and then moved to Illinois in the 90’s. Kasia worked as a bartender/hostess for The Annex, Village Squire, Olive Garden where she encountered a list of friends and acquaintances. Every soul she encountered fell in love with her smile and sincere happy demeanor. Most people she met became true friends rather than just acquaintances. Age was never a factor, for example Kasia’s 3rd Momma “Roberta” they grew to love each other immediately.

Kasia was an incredibly free spirited soul. She was very curious by nature and wasn’t afraid to try anything. She may have inadvertently been a pioneer of the feminist movement as she certainly never let a man tell what to do! With her mesmerizing green eyes and warm glowing smile, she was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Her character was overly sweet but sometimes also spicy. There was a certain amount of punk and funk in her personality, which made her all the more endearing. She loved animals and had a particular affection for dogs. It was near impossible to see her smile harder than when a dog was playing with her or licking her face. She reveled in the love of animals as if they were replacing the maternal love she always yearned. Her pets were her children and she treated them as such. She was incredibly generous and giving and she never hesitated for a second to help anyone, even if it was beyond her own means. She was a selfless person who didn’t have a selfish bone in her body. Kasia had an incredibly sensitive soul she was always bursting with emotions even to the point of being fragile. She loved her family unconditionally especially her sister Paulina. She loved her fiancé Paul, he was beyond wonderful to her and he treated her like a lady. She would say he was the most caring person she had ever met and she felt extremely loved by him. The world is a sadder place without her and her kind and wonderful spirit. May she rest in peace surrounded by the warmth of our love.

Kasia is survived by her soulmate and loving fiancée Paul of 17 years, her father Stefan Bos, and her loving sister Paulina Bos. She was preceded in death by her beloved Mother Anna Maria Kowalatowska and her brother Adam.

Visitation will be Thursday July 2, 2020 from 5 to 8 pm with a 7 pm Service at Northern Illinois Funeral Services, Inc 31632 N. Ellis Dr. Volo, IL 60073.

Burial will be Friday July 3, 2020 at Greenview Memorial Gardens R.R. 2, Box 279-A in East Moline, Il 61244.
