Joseph (Gene) Wuss was born on November 14, 1927, in Chicago, and passed away peacefully, with family by his side on September 12, 2018 in Grayslake, after a long bout with mesothelioma.

Gene was the beloved husband of Lorraine (nee Ball) for 62 years. Dearest father of Michael (Michelle) and loving grandfather of Courtney and Brandon and wonderful uncle of many.

Gene was born and raised in Chicago and after high school, served in the U.S. Army. He later moved to Norridge, IL, where he and his wife lived for 53 years, building his first home and raising his family there. His last couple years were spent near his son and his family, in Grayslake. Gene retired from Johnson Controls in 1989, after spending 41 years with the company, and always remembered the good old days.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Anna (Bohiw), and his siblings, Jean, Rose, Elias (Al), Ann, and Stephanie.

Gene was an avid Cubs fan, and he and his wife rarely missed a game on television. He and his wife also loved spending many hours at the nearby casinos and often made trips out to Las Vegas in his younger days. He also enjoyed golfing, swimming, and his Hiawatha Senior Club, socializing with the many friends that he made over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in Gene’s name, to Journey Care at https://journeycare.org/donate/ or by calling 224-770-2413.
