Gerrit Anne Jonkhans, 65, passed into eternal rest on May 18, 2022. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 10:00am  Saint Peter Catholic Church, located at 27551 Volo Village Road, Volo, Ilinois 60073.
Anne was born August 10, 1956 in Hardenburg, the Netherlands to Derk Jan and Grietje Jonkhans. He was one of 4 children. Anne attended the Dutch Business School, Nijenrode in the Netherlands and in 1980 came to the U.S. to attend the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma Washington, as an international exchange student.
It was there, Anne met the love of his life Martha Therese Tsang.  After graduating from the University of Puget Sound they returned to the Netherlands where he began a 40-year employment with Corbion, a Dutch food and biochemical Company. In 1995 he and Martha married and accepted a transfer to Singapore. While still working for the Company, Gerrit earned an MBA from the prestigious University of Singapore. Anne and Martha had two children, Jan- Paul and Anne Marie. In 2011, Anne accepted another transfer, this time to Chicago, Illinois.
Anne was an avid skier, loved to travel and spend time with his family.  He was highly respected in his industry for his strong work ethic, exceptional knowledge and humble personality.  A kind and gentle person, he will be greatly missed and always cherished.
Left to cherish memories of him are his wife and children, brothers Gert (Tilleke), Rein (Inge), brother-in-law Jeffery Whyte, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Hetty.
