Craig Kenneth Shully 72, of North Barrington died peacefully at home on 4/26.

He has now joined his loving yet feisty wife of 44 years, Susan, tough guy dad Kenny (Walt), kind-hearted mom Ruth and hilarious brother Mark.

He was surrounded by his adoring children, Gwen Torstenson (Eric), Kelsi Knight (Will) and Spencer Shully (Magen). He was a loving grandpa to Brody, Cooper, Olivia and Logan, older brother to Mary (Craig) and Scott (Beth) and uncle and cousin to many.

Craig was born and raised in Milwaukee Wisconsin where he started his love for music, friends, art and chicks. During his days at Don Bosco High School he became an Eagle Scout and was star football player.

Eventually, he went on to graduate from UW Oshkosh where he continued his football career, majored in art and most importantly met the love of his life, Sue. Soon after they met and married they settled in Tower Lakes IL to raise their kids.

He had a thriving Graphic Design business for 25 years and was loved and admired by his employees. Even though life was busy he always found time to coach or just cheer on his kids at their sports and activities. He was an avid reader, a top-notch gardener, bonfire aficionado, terrible dancer, viva paper towel lover, prankster (or as he liked to call it “pimping people”), pizza connoisseur and would talk to anyone who would listen.

He was the type of guy who was up for anything and had a sense of humor unmatched by anyone. It wasn’t unusual for a Tower Laker to go for a walk past the Shully’s house and end up talking, laughing and drinking beer for hours. He left a lasting impression on everyone met. When being diagnosed with terminal cancer he took it with ultimate courage and strength. When we asked him about what he wanted us to do after his death his response was ” What do I care I’m dead”. Classic Craig. Dad, we miss you and hope you feel as honored being our dad as we do being your kids. Love you.
