Charleen Ann Mazalewski, 83, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, passed away on February 1, 2023, surrounded by those who loved her.

Charleen, born on April 29, 1939 to Alfred and Mildred Brekhus in Chicago, IL, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. Charleen grew up with the passion of working in the medical field. She graduated nursing school with honors while raising six kids. She got her nursing license on October 17, 1979, which kicked off a 22-year career as a nurse at McHenry County Hospital.

Charleen married Bruno Mazalewski and was a fiercely dedicated mom to all six of her children, raising them to go on to accomplish great things. Family came first and was above all else to Charleen, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by Charleens’ absence is impossible to fill.

Charleen was preceded in death by brothers Robert and Gary Brekhus. She is survived by her loving children Anthony Mazalewski, Stephen Mazalewski, Christine Mazalewsky, Cynthia (Charles) Boyd, Lisa Clauss, Thomas Mazalewski, sister-in-law Millie Brekhus and loving grandchildren Stephanie Mazalewski, Ryan Mazalewski, Cassandra (Travis) Rowe, Anneliese and Nicholas Wise.
